  • Lorena Brady

Lorena Brady, born in Quito, Ecuador, a daughter of the Andes as she refers to her homelands, is a mother, proud immigrant, human rights advocate and community bridge builder. Her upbringing and deep love for Mother Nature led her to work with and for Indigenous Peoples of Abiayala (the Americas). From the sacred waterways of the Amazon Basin to Piscataway Nation ancestral lands (Washington, DC), Lorena has learned from Indigenous leaders, elders, attorneys, and human rights defenders for nearly two decades. Their fight for the recognition of their right of self-determination and securing rights to lands, territories and natural resources inspires and guides her work and way of being.

Her primary areas of work are community building, human rights and immigration advocacy and social justice. An expert in nonprofit operations, fundraising and equitable resource distribution, she supports efforts to create a just and liberated world for all.

Appointed to the Town of Herndon’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (HDEIC) Advisory Committee in June, 2023 Lorena is bringing her international and nonprofit expertise to her hometown. She hopes to build a welcoming community for all regardless of their background, age, immigration status, or gender identity. A place where every community member can reach their full potential by crafting collective solutions to build power and change systems of oppression. Where all of our children can grow up in a dignified environment grounded in mutual respect, dignity and love.
