IYF Stipend Fund
Helping students in the Imagining Your Future program pursue internships and other work-based experiences
Only available to students in the Imagining Your Future program
Internships Open Doors to Students
High school internships offer students invaluable learning experiences that help them imagine their future. Here are some key statistics that highlight the value of internships:
87% of former high school interns say internships helped them choose careers
40% of jobs come through networking, which internships help build
Interns receive job offers faster and earn higher starting salaries
But Barriers Prevent Students from Pursuing Internships
Many students face financial barriers that prevent them from pursuing unpaid internships or other work-based learning opportunities. These barriers restrict career exploration, networking, and skill development. The most common obstacles include:
Lost wages from part-time jobs
Transportation costs to and from the workplace
Work-related expenses, such as professional clothing and supplies
How the IYF Stipend Helps
The IYF Stipend Fund removes these financial barriers, ensuring that students don’t have to choose between financial security and gaining valuable career experience.
$50,000 is available in the IYF Stipend Fund for stipends!
In the last year we’ve supported 54 students with $7,400 from the IYF Stipend Fund. Imagine how we can expand our reach with $50,000!!
What the Fund Covers
Lost wages from after-school/vacation jobs
Transportation costs
Other work related expenses, such as work clothing and resources needed for work
Who Can Apply
All students in Imagining Your Future with financial obstacles to new work experiences are encouraged to apply regardless of background or circumstances. The fund prioritizes inclusivity and fairness.
How Students are Chosen
IYF students who face financial obstacles can apply or be nominated by a community member. The Harraseeket Foundation then reviews applications.
“I met new people, learned to greet others, and learned about different cultures. An amazing experience”
“I enjoyed every second of every day I was there. I really did learn a lot of new things I didn’t know before. The skills I have learned as well as the information will most definitely help me out later down the road in my future.”
